In 1995 Derek Wilton was the proud owner of two garden gnomes, Arthur and Guinevere, but was mystified when Arthur went missing and sent him postcards from his travels.
Derek was then sent a severed gnome's ear along with a ransom note for fifty chocolate coins. He lay in wait for the culprit but was arrested by the police on suspicion of being a peeping Tom.
Blanche Hunt was one of Coronation Street's iconic characters. She was an old battle-axe who rarely had a kind word to say to, or about, anybody. Yet she became one of the most loved characters on the show.
